Middle Ground (slant + superspeed)

I have both a slant and superspeed with a closed comb. Any recommendations on a "middle ground" of aggressiveness? Slant is a bit too much on some days, and the superspeed knockoff is anything but.

Thanks!:thumbup1:

I, too, recommend the DE89L and it's siblings (e.g. DE86) as a middle ground. It's not overly aggressive and is a quite a nice shaver, especially for the money.

What do you mean by superspeed knockoff? Is it a Weishi? Aren't those known for being overly mild?

Thanks for the good advice. I really appreciate it!

Regarding my superspeed knockoff. I have no idea what it's proper name is. My girlfriend got it for me as my first DE for Christmas. It is made in Korea. That is it's only identifiable marking.

On a further note: My girlfriend has a good heart but is not too bright. For Xmas she got me

1-The Superspeed Knock Off
2-One of those cheap aluminum shaving "stands" that has a tiny unusable bowl, a hanger for a Mach 3 style razor, a heavy metal Mach 3 style handle, and a hanger for a brush. Don't get me started on the quality of the brush that came with the set. It is HEAVY with a metal handle, and has a ****ty density!:thumbdown:blink:

Some things you must do for yourself!:001_smile

My Gillette Aristocrat and my Gillette NEW have both been great middle ground razors for me. Good luck in your search.

Regards,
Chase

I think if you keep using the slant you will grow to like it. I use a slant with a feather (despite having a medium to light beard) with great results. :thumbup1:

A Gillette Red Tip is a slightly more aggressive version of the Super Speed. Excellent middle of the road razor.

You know you should really be thankful for her gifts despite the mistake she made, she really put the time and thought into picking those gifts for you so her efforts were worth it. You should be grateful for what she did even if it wasn't to your liking, because what you're saying about her can be really hurtful if she ever ended up seeing your post. Im not trying to start a fight but Im just giving an honest opinion. :thumbdown

You are quite right! :thumbup1:

Include the Muehles in this, the R89 and the R106. Anything with that EJ head is pretty fantastic.

The Muehle head is great for me. The Merkur 45 is also worth a look: I find it slightly more aggressive than the Muehle. Sadly it's made of plastic, but on the other hand it doesn't cost much to get one.
