Merz til it hurts!

Hey all,

I just went to Merz Apothecary in Chicago for the first time. I LOVE IT! I spent some birthday money (around 90 bucks) and got awesome stuff. I went for mostly creams because there are so many I want to try. I got a tub of cella, a tub of truefitt and hill 1805, a tub of TOBS sandlewood, a tub of TOBS eton college collection, a stick of Speick, and a puck of Edwin Jagger sea buckthorn. The best part was the service though!

The employee, Renee was very helpful without being overbearing and sweetened the experience by giving me a load of samples for me and my fiance who I mentioned while shopping. She even gave me a nice huge bar of sandlewood soap because she said I need to get off of the supermarket crap! Overall, I am very pleased and will be a customer for as long as I can lift a razor to my face!

Sounds like fantastic customer service. They definitely made a great first impression and now they get a long term customer, it's a win-win.

I also totally agree with Renee about the bath soap. I would never bring a supermarket soap near me again, not when bath soaps like MWF, Speick and Valobra exist!!

Did you go to the downtown or Lincoln Park location?
I find Lincoln Park, the original, to be more inviting.

The lincoln square location has been around since the late 1800's. I agree I go in a few times a month for a nice treat- you don't have to break the bank and the thing is they've got the stuff you won't find anywhere else.

I was downtown Max. That location was just too convenient since I work a few blocks away. I do plan on visiting the original one day.

A few blocks is not only convenient, but dangerous to the credit card!
thanks for sharing the experience.

You got that right! Lucky for me this one was on Mom as a birthday gift. Not that it would have stopped me if it was my money!

Went up there Saturday during Maifest in Lincoln Sq., better assortment than the loop location, but oddly not that much better. Loop location has all the major brands, while the original store has some of the less widely distributed brands. Really was looking to sample some D.R. Harris scents, but they don't carry that brand. Anyone know who does carry D.R. Harris in the city or 'burbs (preferably the western burbs)?
