Xmases past . . . age 10, I received a Western gunfighter set, gun and holster, from Mattel. Remember Shootin' Shell pistols, that looked and worked much like the real thing? Age 11, an Aurora Model Motoring setup in HO Scale (not as exciting as I thought it would be, somehow). At 12, a 1/12 scale AMT assembly kit of a '37 Cord 812. At 13, the 1/8 scale Revell Jaguar XKE kit, which I put together with Revell's own cement. My mother saved the model and 20 years later when she passed away, I found it. The little door handles had fallen off; but otherwise it was intact. I wish I'd kept it.

I also received my first "real" watch, a Timex Electric ($40 in 1966, boys).

Since then? One or two items stand out, but I don't really remember. Mrs. Benzadmiral No. 1 gave me a topcoat which didn't fit, and No. 2 gave me a Harris Tweed jacket which I no longer have. But the rest is gone.
