Mermaids: The Body Found

Anybody else watching this on Discovery? They seem to be making a statement that they exist and that the US Navy has one and keeping it secret.

DSC/TLC/HST used to be good for science and learning.

For the last 10+ years, they've degraded to simply b-rate entertainment.

What a joke. If mermaids are real, the. I'm giving $1000 to every current or previous member of b&b.

Hooray for marketing.

Agree with the above. All these same channels have Bigfoot/Nessie/ghost shows aplenty. It should be criminal

Mermaids wouldn't have lasted too long without mermen. And the only one of them I've ever seen was in Zoolander.

Alls I know is when I get my wife out of the bath (she has to soak her tail), I'm getting a $1000 put into my paypal account.

Totally forgot about ghosts... I was thinking about space aliens and reality shows which are even less about "reality" than the "real" "reality shows".

I had high hopes for the NatGeo channels, and while they are informative, they are dumbed down to the 3rd grade level... but the narrators could put a kid with ADD to sleep.

Lord, the Discovery channel has tanked. Their whole network suite is facacta.
+1 ... the only decent shows they have left are Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs.

And thanks for working the word "facacta" into a thread ... I like to hear ein bissele mommaloschen every now and then.

What about Mermaid Man?

I mentioned this show in my Animal Planet thread. It's a joke. It's actually a mockumentary and the "scientists" in the show are just actors. This show is a complete waste being on Animal Planet.

The inquiries followed May's broadcast of Mermaids: The Body Found, on the Discovery Channel's Animal Planet network.

The programme was a work of fiction but its wink-and-nod format apparently led some viewers to believe it was a science education show, the Discovery Channel has acknowledged.

Apparently a tiny little text pop up at the end of the show states it is a fanciful fiction, but many folks didn't see it.

No problem.
Speaking of native languages, I was amazed how often I heard y'all and ain't the last time I was in Ireland.

The only thing that holds my attention nowadays is How Its Made. All the reality shows of survivalists, junk pickers, pawn shops, croc hunters, fishermen, miners, motorcycle builders, car hotrodders, ghost hunters, mediums, tattoo artists, dog trainers, cat trainers, gun makers, aquarium makers, house renovators, blah blah blah make my brain cells commit suicide. Surviorman was pretty good for a while.
