I reached out to Dovo Solingen the makers of the famed Merkur Vision 2000 razor and learned that the only difference between the Merkur Vision and the Merkur Vision 2000 is the name. They explained that the same razor has been marketed with the 2000 in some areas but in other areas the 2000 was left off. I would leave it at that but I have seen others explain that there is a difference between the original Merkur Vision because it has a set screw which disappeared in later models. Can anyone direct me to the history of this DE? Thanks!

Is the Vision/Vision 2000 still being made?
The Merkur Vision came on the market in 1998. The Merkur Vision 2000 came on the market in, um, 2000.
They shave the same. The only difference I'm aware of is the deletion of the set screw referenced above.
The Vision 2000 was discontinued a few years ago, but you may still find some NOS around.
and the vision 98 is long gone...??
Lemme say it this way. You won't find a Vision '98 on the shelf of your favorite razor retailer.
