Merkur Progress love

Just received a Progress off of that big auction site.
I can't believe someone parted with it! My other favorites have been the Cadet open comb, and I've recently been learning to take advantage of my Super Adjustable (which is a better option than the OC when time is a factor.
This translated well to the Progress, with some supplied Merkurs.
The OC still gives the best "artisan" shave, but is not as flexible for "finishing" as the adjustables.
Another note: the Progress strips far less of the prep off before the cut than the Black Beauty.

It's one of the very few DE's that I've kept over the years, it also seems to take blades that don't work very well for me in other razors and still give me a good shave. Enjoy yours!

After owning 80 plus razors, the two I always reach for are my 37C Slant and Mergress. For my face, there is not anything better than those two Merkurs. Enjoy your shaves.

I like mine a lot. Will probably have it converted to a Mergress soon. It was my 1st razor and my research indicated I was probably over buying, but absolutely no regrets.

The only drag with the Pro?mergress is the handle...IMHO not suer friendly...no knurling...odd shaped..just my thoughts

I'm a recent member of the Progress fan club also. I own several merkurs - 39c, 38c, futur, 510, as well as several (rebranded) Hoffritz slants - I love them all and they are my favourite razors without exception!

I'm a new fan of the Progress. After the first two uses on the "mildest" setting I had terrible shaves. I gave it another try with the setting moved up a bit and improved my technique and it has become my new favorite razor. It gives a close and comfortable shave. I like being able to hear the razor as it cuts and the Progress seems to have a nice resonance. The handle has never been a problem for me.

My main razor was a fatboy, but since getting my Mergress XL, the Fatboy has been retired.

The Progress is a great tool. Initially, I did not like the plastic knob but now I have got used to it. The slant bar is a notch ahead at the moment but that could change.

I just received my Mergress and I used it for the first time last night and I love it.

Unfortunately Bob Smith is no longer around to make these razors and I know of no one else who has attempted to modify razors to the extent that he did.
