I have a Mergress, and I’ve noticed some damage to the bottom plate. I don’t want to lose my investment in this razor, but I know what happens next. It’s the old “version” of the Progress with the larger markings on the side of the bottom plate and top cap.
My question is, can I buy a new Progress, swap in the knob, and oil & calibrate it myself? Or is the knob assembly different somehow for the newly cast Progress razors that requires me to stay with the older version?
I’d really prefer to repair this, so to speak, instead of paying $180 for a new one. It is one of my favorite razors, however, and I love the added weight and premium look of the metal knob, so I definitely need to rectify this somehow.
