Merkur heads - where to find them?

Merkur will not sell just the heads, I've asked.
Now if you have a warranty issue you can contact Anne at Dovo/Merkur customer service and see about getting a replacement.
I don't think the cost of a brand new Merkur is out of line at all. You might as well get a whole new razor and be done with it.

Get a lord smart to replace the head.

The Lord Smart head looks very much like a Merkur, and shaves wonderfully. Unfortunately, it is not paired very well with the included plastic handle, as this makes the razor too head heavy. Paired with a standard Merkur handle, you would have a wonderful razor, that would provide years of service!!
I have the head off a the Lord Smart, on an aluminum long handle (the Lord LP1822, which isn't sold in the US), and it is a superb shaver; it's not just great for the price, it is a great razor all around.
