merkur futur question

I just got my merkur futur and it twists all the way past the #6 mark? Is it supposed to do that? Is that considered a 6 and a half then?

Mines been set on 6.5 for almost a year. It's the way to go.

6 is more aggressive, but I wouldn't know because I never dial mine that high. Something about SWMBO liking skin on my face.

I'd set it to 1.5 for a good starting point, if you need something more aggressive than an HD.

That's where mine is set. I say 6 since I don't want people passing out on their keyboards from the mere thought of that.

I guess you could call it a straight on a heavy stick.

Yep, that's what happened to me! I use mine at 2.5-3 mostly. Now, 3.5 is a different story.

I'm sure it will Randomtw. My beard is tough and persistant. With some razors I've used, my 5:00 shadow shows up at noon.
I have been using the Futur as my main shaving tool since 2004. Nothing has ever given me a closer,or more comfortable shave.
May I recommend a very goop prep(search for Kyle's Prep), a good sharp blade like a Super Iridium or a Feather and a setting of about 1.5-2
You dont need any pressure against your face. The heft of the razor will do the work.

is it just me, but i dont see anything changing when i put the blade in and twist it from 1 to 6?

you'll see a difference in the gap between blade and razor.

i started on 2 but soon jumped to 3 and 4.

Well, I haven't shaved my fists much, although I've read in another thread that the Futur's are good for a fist shave. Just wondering what a good setting would be.
