Merkur Classic vs HD, any difference in the head?

I have both and can't tell any difference in the way they work.
Is there any difference in the head, blade angle, gap or anything besides the handles?

The heads are identical. They will shave slightly differenty due to the size/weight of the handles.

According to our shave Wiki the HD has more of a blade gap making it more aggressive. There is another thing; Merkur production is not very precise so you can buy 2 identical razors with noticable and significant differences.

For me the difference is mostly about weight and balance and these factors are very much YMMV. I prefer the classic 3-piece Merkurs over the 2-piece models but that is just me.

My impression is they're very similar.
The thing with the wiki however is that even though they're ranked differently, the classic does not mention the blade gap, and it seems to have been put there arbitrarily. maybe we should update the wiki? (not sure how to do it myself, just saying)

If the blade gap is different, it's almost certainly a manufacturing error.

I think any difference between the shave from these two razors is VASTLY over-stated. They are really just the same razor with a different style of handle. Get the handle you like for comfortable grip and good looks, and assume that you'll be getting a shave 99.8% the same.
