Merkur blade + Gillette tech + poor fit?

i was playing around with my razor, as i tend to do, and i noticed that there was a noticeable amount of pay in the blade(merkur), about 1-2mm in either direction, and it would also go ever so slightly crooked. it won't shift while the head is secure, but it does tend to stick out more on one side unless i hold it while tightening.
i hadn't noticed this before, but i hadn't ever looked for it either. I'm wondering if anyone else had noticed any tendency for differing exposure with this razor/blade combination?
