What's new

Merkur 47c - new Merkur DE, I'm buying it, are you ?

Anyone bought the new Merkur 47c - same head as in the 34c, the classic head - but the handle looks pretty well made with a nice pattern and solid weight.

Nothing spectacular - but still sounds like a great DE option for us that prefer the longer handled DE razors :001_cool:

I have avoided Merkur beause of their rather inferior finish - but I think I'm jumping on this one......

Now you've gone and done it......

You do know that photos and a review are required once you get it

Shows that Merkur tries to make a product more stylish. Looks good, I can't argue about that.
The chubby ending on the handle bugs me so I'll pass.
This thread made me review other Merkur shavers. I made an extra long stop at the Progress Adjustable page :001_wub:.

One day...

A fresh change from the usual Merkur handles ... RAD is rumbling but ... as my signature states, I have taken a solemn vow of restraint until Festivus :001_unsur

No more Zamak for me. If I buy a new razor it will be stainless, only.
Besides, it looks like elephants' feet. The vertical picture shows the lack of grace and I find it disproportionate. No golden section,... no smart design, not an elegant razor.
Sorry, that's how I see this "new" razor.

Funny thing with Merkur. Always trying to re-invent the wheel. The classic and HD handles look excellent. I never knew why they just didn't make their existing handle style into the size of their barber pole handles. That's why the Parker 91R was a hit for so many as that is about what it looked like except for slight variation of the graduation from the knob instead of the sharp diameter distinction.
