Merkur 39C and 37C slant

Is the 39C really more aggressive than the 37C? Anyone here that has tried both razors? All I know the 39C has a longer handle and weighs more. How do the shaves compare?

Surely the heads will be coming off exactly the same production line. Just that some of them will get short handles and some of them long handles.

Why would Merkur spend a fortune designing and tooling up for a new head when they already have a perfectly good one?

I am wondering the same thing. Usually you hear that a heavier head makes a difference...but at 2.7oz(77g) vs 4oz(113g) does the 1.3oz(37g) difference in weight in the handle make a noticeable difference shaving?

I found to 39C more aggressive than the 37C but only because of the leverage of the longer handle and extra weight it provides. However, we are talking subtle differences.

I have and use(d) both. I prefer longer handled razors as I have larger hands and I do notice a better shave with the longer handle perhaps due to the extra weight but the longer handle takes getting used to with manuevering and such.

you may get a better shave from the extra weight but it's really down to personal preference.

I had both. I preferred the 37C. I found that I could get a very close shave with either of them, but I tended to get more irritation with the 39C. I think it is due to its extra weight. I ended up selling my 39C.

It is interesting that I love my Futur and it is heavier than the 39C.

Gentlemen, I appreciate the info. It seems that there is little difference in shave quality between the 37C and 39C. I think I am going to stick with the 37C and try to master it.
