I take mine apart after every use to get excess water out. A simple way of putting it back is hold it like below whilst squeezing it in as the other thumb and index finger pinch the C ring. So easy once you get the hand of it.

All I see is the c shaped tensioner part; but your point is well taken.Actually, that is a great mod for this model to remove the spring so that it comes apart easy for cleaning. I mean, you want to minimize the gunk that collects so that 50 years from now the person that buys your "rare" vintage German made 34c on Etsy gets a nice clean specimen

That's the thing to take off. Pull out the knob from the handle, push the c-clip gently up on the knob shaft (away from the knob) and slide it off the end. Now you will be able to clean easily. As suggested, save the clip. Might come in handy (though probably not).
Some 2-piece razors, like my Fasan Double Slant, never had a retainer clip. I've also pulled the retainer out of the handle on my Rex Konsul. Works for me.
