Merkur 1904 OC w/ short handle 1st shave. NICE!

Just had my first shave with this razor using a Personna Lab Blue and Cella/Conk's super lather. I have a couple other OC razors (1919 Old and a Cadet 3pc OC).

As I shaved, I was thinking "hmm, this thing is MILD!". I wasn't sure it was shaving very closely; not much audible feedback and really didn't feel all that much. After my normal 2-pass WTG and XTG, I rinsed and was pretty amazed.

Very close shave without the normal slight burn I get with either of my other OC razors. Not quite BBS, but close. BBS is nice, but a "decent", comfortable shave is what I'm looking for.

For $26 and change shipped (WCS), this razor is a sweet deal, and probably forgiving enough for newbies to boot.

Cheers! :a39:

I have 15C (same head). I still remember my surprise when I pulled it the first time over my face. It did not feel like I was shaving at all, but for some reason the beard went away.

Merkur OC razors are definitely mild. They are no tool for getting a BBS, but will give a close shave in two passes, even after a week of growth. Because how mild they are, and because you do not really feel the blade, there is a risk of beginning to add pressure gradually for each shave. Avoid that!

Excellent! I'm glad you've found a great razor that works for you. I LOVE the feedback I get from a straight or a NEW, and I especially like the special ringing my NEW Improved offers on a first pass, but nothing beats a mild comfortable shave!

You know, I've got 5 razors in less than 3 months of wet shaving. A DE 89L, 1919 Old, Cadet OC 3pc, a 64 Slim adjustable (being replated, haven't used yet), and this one. Now that I've got some tech to go along with the nique, I'm enjoying all of them. I was just surprised by the comfort the Merkur provided vs the other 2 OC's (which really aren't bad, and if I'm careful, provide a BBS when needed).

Cheers!
