Merkur 11C

For those of you who don't know this razor, it is simply an open comb version of the 34C. I love the short, heavy handle and the feel (I have a 37C as well).
Seeing as this one has been out of production for a good number of years, I'm wondering what other razors may provide a similar shaving experience? I don't use the OC that often, but it is great if I skip a day or two of shaving and having a back-up wouldn't be a bad idea.

maybe parker oc or a maggard head with a short handle?

What you're asking about is the availability of an Old Type head and a thick handle. Isn't there a version of the Old Type called the Big Fellow, or some such thing?

Failing that, you may have to make a Frankenstein razor.

Thanks Steve - I may have to investigate that a little more. Up until now, I haven't had a lot of luck with Old Types.

There were vintage Merkurs that were three pieces and shaved about the same. I have one that's replated. Here are the photos of such a Merkur.

I think the current Merkur 1094/06 Classic 41C shaves like my Merkur 11. Feels different in the hand, but similar, mild, OC shaves.

Mild enough for daily use.

You could buy a 15C and use any third party handle you want. It is the same head as 11C.
