In Australia would be nice but it doesn't matter so long as they can ship to Australia.

It seems all these top end razors are out of stock...

The plastic base doesn't bother me any on the progress.

I think all signs are telling me to get the progress (lh)

I've had both the long handle as a custom and the short handle as a custom with a short and xl knob all from different makers.

It's all personal preference.

I just got a new short handle Merkur Progress (for $60 aus w/ over night delivery) but I have a few metal fabricator mates and an engineer for a father in law, who has all the machines to fashion some handles & get a bit creative with some modifications on this thing.

I'll see what they come up with and be sure to update you on it's progress once it's under way.

I've tried the Digress XL HD and the Mergress XL, both are excellent, unfortunately there is often a wait list for the Mergress razors.

I got my regular Progress today, the handle is surprising long compared to a Merkur 34c HD. it's almost the perfect length, the handle isn't slippery either (no idea what everyone's complaining about). Great shave at a great price with a great razor. Cannot complain at all!
