Mentholated Lime AS Splash?

This is a pretty simple idea, and I'm afraid I've never seen one or heard of one.

A Lime Aftershave Splash with Menthol.

Now I don't mean something like Old Spice Lime, which has very little Lime about it, or similar to that concept. I mean a real lime AS that has a bit of menthol chill to it.

I was inspired to this thought by two products. The QCS Key Lime Ice cream, which is... wow! The second is Razorock King Louis/888 AS Lotions which are IMO the best all round AS I've ever used.

So does one exsist? If fate deems I am out of luck on this, then does anyone have a "recipe" or idea to create one?

Well, normally I agree about the menthol scent clashing. But my two product examples seem to have a menthol that has minimal scent. The QCS cream, which is probably the coldest around, has it there but it doesnt dominate at all. The lime comes out nicely. The RR AS's have just the right amount for a little cooling effect, but you don't smell it at all. So I think it can be done without smelling like Lime Proraso. :wink2:

Hmmm. An interesting idea. I might take some Lime Sec and add some crystals to it.

BTW, I doctored up a bottle of Old Spice by adding several mL of lime essential oil. Smells very nice.

Aqua Velva Frost Lime was discontinued, but don't ask me why. It's great.
I get a similar effect by layering a lime AS over an undercoat of Osage Rub. I've done it this summer using Royall Lyme and Avon Island Lime (which, alas, has also been discontinued). I saw someone else doing this with Pinaud Citrus Musk, and I bet that would work well also.

Sounds like an easy creation to do, and I think I'm going to try it. Man00ver, what is Royall Lime like?

I've been doing the same thing with a splash of Family Dollar old spice clone and a few drops of lime essential oil. I like the effect! You can thin it down to taste with WH, and add in a couple drops of grapeseed oil and it leaves your face feeling ultra smooth and smelling clean.

Royall Lyme is an all-purpose lotion (i.e. aftershave/body-splash). It doesn't have any humectant ingredients, but the lime scent is nice and relatively long-lasting. It's not cheap ($60 for the 8oz bottle), but you can get a gift pack with little samplers of four scents if you want to try it out. Pinaud Citrus Musk is much more affordable, and equally refreshing if you ask me.

You are right, I can't think of any ready made menthol lime aftershaves but my solution is simple - 444!

Add a pea size drop of 444 to any flavor aftershave, for lime I prefer Trumpers Lime splash + 444. Royall Lyme is nice also just a little more powdery than I prefer.

Right! That 444 stuff... I'll pick some of that up next time as well as some kinda lime AS and give it a try! Thanks Garry, the Sample Man knows!

+1....I use 444 with just about all my A/S splashes...BTW...Citrus Musk + 444 is a wonderful combo...used it this morning

Thanks for that! I'm going to look into getting a bottle. Have you used it, if so how is it?

I've used non-mentholated limacol. I am not in love with it, as the fragrance is more of a citrus peel rather than a fruit. still, it is not bad and I occasionally use it. The castor oil is an interesting component. The overall experience is heavy, subdued, earthy, kind of a "minor key" to use a musical analogy.

Give it a shot and see how you like it.
