Men on front lines

Lately I came to know a couple of guys in the front lines who have started shaving with DE razors. I was thinking if we could get a list of our soldiers on the front lines and the shaving stuff they needed. We could get some kind of give away going for them. I am looking to see if anyone else is interested.

Interested in helping our our troops? Of course!! Count in SCS, come on guys.....

Keep this updated.

As a soldier and a new DE shaver, I have a few suggestions for products for those in the trenches. I suggest shave sticks, and creams. These products can be used without a brush, which can be hard to properly maintain in dirty environs. Blades are also a plus as they don't take up much room. As many opt for a shaved head as well, perhaps even head blades. While I may be in the minority on this, I suggest unscented yet moiturizing products as well. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for thinking of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines serving our country abroad. Gives me renewed faith in America every single time I see the support you give us.

Thank you!

Ok, so SCS can provide shave sticks but how many? Any fragrance suggestions or no fragrance?

Aftershave milk in plastic bottles (it can also be used as a moisturizer on dry skin?

What else is needed that we can make, Chap sticks? Foot Balm? Body spray?

Perhaps those that are at a loss as to what to contribute would just contribute a few buxs to help defray shipping costs to the coordinator. Just a thought............even a dollar or two helps.

When it comes time I can probably donate a number of boxes of blades (unopened) that came with a sampler I bought.

Speaking from experience - unscented with moisterizing properties are the best. The desert makes your skin feel raw most days from sun ,wind and extremes in temperatures. I used a stick and stored my gear in a plastic soap container. I know eveyone has different opinions and preferences, but thats my $.02.

That said; I am in for donation etc.

Unscented is good. It seems like bugs get attracted to any scent. I was aircrew when I was over there so we had relatively decent digs. I could have used my brush in some places I have been even though hot water was scarce. Do we know any DE shavers who are deployed?

I'm in too.... I work for the V.A. hospital, and would love to contribute more to the cause for the brave men and women fighting for us.

I can donate to this too. Who is working out the logistics?
Sounds like Sue is providing a starting source for some products, but it also sounds as if people are wanting to donate their own overstock products, which needs to have a repository / collection point. If people are donation funds, where should that be sent? Should be something everyone trusts.

I believe this to be a great cause and some of the planning needs to be ironed out if this is going to work.

I'd agree these are very solid suggestions.

I also think this can be very dependent on the Service Members location/circumstances. Many stay in CHU's or (compartmentalized housing units) and have (or aren't far from) regular running water. Yes this includes Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.

Very good points.

We need a point of contact and address to ship to and a deadline date for receipt of donations. How many are we shipping to? 10, 40, 100?

Maybe a master list of what is needed would help? At church we occasionally put together toiletries for the womens' shelter, it's something like this: comb, brush, 2 washcloths, handtowel, bar soap in soap box, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant in a gallon zip lock bag.

A master list of what is received, ship date and costs to forward. IMO, every donation should be new and unused, exception- razors in pristine condition.

keep us posted - I'd have some stuff to give, but it's possible some service members might be a little put off by "old used things" (vintage probably wouldn't be a selling point to most kids in the field) - so no vintage brushes... what about vtg Gillettes? Although cleaned up & shiny, will the troops be averse to gifts of old razors like their Grampses used?

Generally, New & Unused will be the order of the day for me - blades, sticks, cream - $$ - whatever - let me know.

If earmarked $$ to SCS will help - Sue, please PM me.

Fantastic idea - thanks for this.
