Melitta AromaRoast - suddenly it's the '80s again

I was helping my dad clean his back garage and found the coffee roaster my mom gave me at Christmas back in 1984. She always encouraged that making things yourself was more satisfying than leaving one more aspect of the living of your life to others, an outlook that for her could even percolate through to the coffee you drink.

According to Sweetmaria's info sheet on it, this is the first of the "air popper" fluid air bed style roasters for home use in the US. When I received it, I used the baggie of green beans that came with it and didn't know at that time how to get more beans, so I never used it again - till today. And... it's only 1000 watts, and it didn't work very well. I gave up after roasting a batch about 30 minutes.

Anyways, thanks mom, you were ahead of your time. It only took me 25 years to catch on to roasting my own coffee.
