Me for hire?

This may be a longshot, may not.

I work in sales. A pitchman I am. Which, basically means I sell in a public place to a crowd of people by demonstrating a product. You see us at fairs and homeshows all the time.

I'm trying to edge my way into a television "host" slot on one of the shopping channels.

However, I am seeking immediate work. Would any of you here know of any place that is in need of talent? Anyone else here do this type of work?

Oh, I'm open to other types of sales positions too. Except insurance or vacuums.
Thanks!

I don't have any leads for you but good luck...and I must agree, I once did a stint with Electrolux and agree with you completely about trying to sell vacuums.

Ha. I sold Electrolux too. Years ago. Problem I find, people don't buy in their homes. They don't invite people in. That and management sucks! I have always had one of their vacuums though. And probably always will.

Ever think about selling cars? Judging by my areas local dealership commercials there is a great need for a boost in talent. Watching someone's grandkids antics on tv is not going to get me in the dealership to buy a car. If anything it is going to keep me away.

Selling cars, might get you some dough, and be a in for a TV spot

I would think that if you wanted to get on say QVC and you had some TV commericals to show them that you were in, so they could see you in front of a camera it might help.

Do you have any you tube vids of you selling? No? Well there is a thought. I think you could link them to any prospective employers? :001_smile

Do you yell at people, while acting friendly and smile a lot? Do you give multiple hand pumps in order to show your enthusiasm for the product?

I tried my hand at being a salesman twice. Once as a products demonstrator, and then as a vacuum salesman. Oh, and I also was a telemarketer in college. I hate sales jobs! But, if you have the talent, then I hope you do well.

I don't know of anything, but as suggested, biding your time as a car salesman would probably work.

Here is a reason you do not want to sell vacuums:
An un-paid state worker answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner. 'Good morning,' said the young man. 'If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners.' 'Go away!' said the state worker. 'I'm broke and haven't got any money!' and he proceeded to close the door. Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open. 'Don't be too hasty!' he said. 'Not until you have at least seen my demonstration.' And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto his hallway carpet. 'If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Sir, I will personally eat the remainder.' The un-paid state worker stepped back and said, 'Well let me get you a fork, 'cause they cut off my electricity this morning.'

Yeah, great products....they're worth the high prices.

The ONLY way I made any money with that job was spending most days cleaning rooms for $20 each using my demo shampooer.

I have one at home now...an older model, but they last forever.

My only sale was to my sister, and she got a shampooer HALF PRICE. :001_tongu

Side note to everyone, the Electrolux vacuums sold in retail stores like Lowe's are not REAL Electrolux products. There are actually two Elecotrolux companies, the ones in stores are from a Swedish brand that bought the name from the real vacuum company, they're inferior and are basically repackaged Hoovers. Also, any appliance sold with the name in Sears or Lowe's is not from the vacuum company with the great reputation, they're also from the foreign company that bought the name.

You can only get a real Electrolux from a dealer and they now have the named Aerus Electrolux on them.

Anyways, sorry for the derailment...back to job hunting and good luck.

I recently bought a refurb Electrolux (pre Aerus name change) less than $200 USD. I got it at bargainhuntersvacuum.com. Well, about 2 years ago I did. Use it everyday. Twice a day most days. I have 2 German shepherds and a baby crawling...and I love vacuumed floors. So yeah...
