MdC-reg or fougere- Decision for Tomorrow Mornings Shave

Just received two jars of MdC. Which would you use first, regular or fougere?

Also, for those that have used MdC, the instructions say to leave it open to dry. Does this mean to leave it open 24/7 or just until the moisture from the brush loading dries?

Lastly, do you load from the paper lid cover first? It looks like a decent amount sticks to it.

PS: does anyone know what scent the soap sample is in the photo? Jason included it but I have no idea what it is. It has a great scent and filled up the room.

The instructions mean to leave the lid off 24/7 and I do but I put the lid back on when I don't use it for a while. You can put the lid back on if you want. It won't hurt anything.

You can scrape from the paper liner first if you want. I do that with my creams.

EDIT: The hand/bath soap sample in the photo is fougere-scented honey. Thanks for the correction, jsab.

Basically, you can do it however you want; there is no right way.

You're right. The fougere soap samples actually say, "Fougere".

Starkicker, I have never used QCS so I can't answer that question.

QCS Fougere smells very different than MdC Fougere. MdC's Fougere is in the same vein as regular scented MdC.

MdC were going to tweak the Fougere scent if i remember correctly. Is this the new version or still the old? I would go with the Fougere by the way.

No harm in leaving the jar open as they recommend. Remember, with the brain bowl, there is no way to close it. It does leave a light trace of the scent where ever it is stored as a subtle reminder to keep using it. Be careful with the samples they send. My spouse was so pleased when she got into them I may be driven to a third MdC order.

I used the original scent this morning. I watched a video on youtube where the guy took eight swirls from the jar and had a full face lather. I took about 10 swirls and it looked like I barely picked up any soap but I figured, what the heck, so I started it on my face and got two nice passes out of it. I did go back to the jar for two swirls for the third pass. I guess I'll try about 15 swirls the next time and I should be good. This jar will last forever at that pace.

I don't think my skin was as soft afterwards as MWF or Mike's. However, there was no discomfort and I got a nice smooth shave out of it. Going to try out the Fougere tomorrow.
