May 2022 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

SOTD #18
BBS

I’ve found mY recipe for consecutive BBS. Follow the R41s shave next day with an AM shave and a new blade :001_cool:

At least that works for me. Discovered yet another blade which works beautifully for me. Seemed nicely smooth and sharp. To be fair this shave was following on the heels of an R41 BBS...

Lather was superb today. It has been some time since I’ve last used the Commodore. Very lovely brush.

Decided to take my OBiF blade for a spin today.
Got an ok shave, close but not very comfortable.
No blood but some irritation on the neck.
I'll save the blade for later, will give it a try in another razor.

Hope you all have a nice weekend..:)

SOTD
  • TCOT head/BET handle
  • Nacet (23)
  • Yaqi 24mm synthetic
  • Mike's Lemongrass and Eucalyptus - SOTM
  • WH w/menthol, LTFT
  • Stirling South Padre ASB
  • Vintage Osage Rub AS
Another rushed, yet very satisfactory shave today.

A couple of days' growth again, easily dispatched by the thin-cap Old Type. I went for a nice afternoon motorcycle ride around the outskirts of Napa, including Lake Berryessa, in perfectly acceptable 80* weather, then came home for a quick shower and shave, just in time to make it to a local little Italian bistrot for happy hour. On the patio in the evening air, a glass of Sangiovese for me and an Aperol Spritz for SWMBO, plus some of the best gnocchi available and sundry small bites...great.

Onward!

Day 21, 67.7% (⅔) complete.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.68 SB, Ti Handle, Astra SS #5
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave.

Used the mild Game Changer and Astra SS again. They play well together: the not-so-smooth blade is tamed, the razor feels a bit more effective.

I got a perfectly acceptable DFS with this combination.

Have a Great Sunday everyone!

And I'm out. I received an offer to purchase an item I had thought to be unavailable.

I feel bad about not making it through the GRUME with less than ten days remaining, but I couldn't let this one get away again

It really has been a lot of fun. Good luck to you all...

This sounds just like an opportunity that chased you down so enjoy it. It happened to me as well when Northstonehill offered to part with a Gen1 UK Aristocrat.
