Mastering the 15 minute shave

I can finally get a comfortable shave in just 15 minutes. I remember when I first started, it took me 45 minutes minimum. Thank you Badger & Blade!

Teach me please. Making lather alones takes more than five minutes. I could do a one-passer, but I don't look shaved after only one pass.

Congrats btw!

Congrats Matthew. The perfection of a skill is something to be proud of.

I have a different perspective for you;

When I was shaving with a cart and goo, I could shave in 15 minutes.

Now with great soaps and creams, hot water, and a great blade, I can luxuriate in a 45 minute shave.

Thanks B&B!!

I just had my first this morning, and did it by going from three passes to two. I had been doing three by habit, but realized that using my slant I just don't need it!

I'm a 25-30 minute shaver. I think I could speed it up if I had to, but I really don't want to. I like shaving in a carefree, almost lazy manner.

Build lather directly to your face instead of in a bowl, if you don't already do it. Then do a maximum of two passes. I do one pass because of irritation, and still get a good shave.

I have adopted this method and use it about 90% of the time. I get DFS's every time. On weekends, or whenever I have time, I slow it down, add an extra pass, and savor it. Most days, I can't afford that luxury, but still enjoy the 10-15 minutes spent shaving immensely.

Thanks Mantic!

This is interesting. When I did my first full face 2-pass shave a few days back, I thought I was very slow at 25 minutes. But now I realize that I never really knew how much time it took with the cartridges. I was briefly - very briefly - tempted to do one more cartridge shave just to find out, but the insanity passed.

So maybe 25 minutes isn't bad at all, especially considering that I am quite new to DE shaving!

I can do a 2-pass shave with a DE in 15min. Straight shave is still in the neighborhood of 30min. The key is to ensure each stroke accomplishes the maximum - no multiple strokes over the same area. I can do this fairly well with a DE, but nowhere close with a straight at this time.

I have never had a shave last me longer than 15-20 minutes. Even a three pass shave (plus touchups) has never cost me more than that.

Congrats!

I usually like a 20-30 minute shave, which is why I converted to night shaving. There's nothing more relaxing at the end of the day than to fill up the scuttle and start in on the ritual. I love drifting off to sleep clean-shaven and smelling of a nice AS.

Ever since I began face-lathering and shaving at the sink (as opposed to in the shower), I've knocked it down from 40 minutes to about twenty (assuming my problem areas don't flare up). It just takes time and patience to get better and better at this.
