Marocco on vacation - Anything shaving related worth buying?

Hi all, been lurking a while.
A couple of weeks into DE shaving and on the lookout for aything new.:001_smile

So, me and SWMBO are going to Morocco on vacation.
Is there anything shaving related worth checking out while there, like brushes, oils, creams/soaps etc?

I really would like to hear if Morocco has anything good to offer.
Never been there before and would really appreciate if anyone has some tips what to look for.
(This would also keep me occupied while wifey checks out the cosmetics and whatnot.:biggrin1:)

Currently, I'm mostly looking for brushes.
But that seems to be even a harder decision than my first DE (EJ DE86).

Coffee is good, smokes are cheap and the camel is tasty.
or do you mean shaving related??
It all depends on where, I think for Morocco.
Bigger cities like Rabat and Marrakech would have a good sized supermarket.
otherwise ask the barber while you're getting a €2 shave where you can buy some stuff.

Supermarkets and barbers are a sure bet. Hopefully I will find something in Agadir.
Quit smoking recently, but gotta try some camel though. ;)

Is there anything famous from Morocco that is related to shaving?
Like TOBS or Truefitt & Hill in London.

Did try google, but find it hard to figure out what to look for.
Especially when it comes brands, ingredients and other stuff that may be used traditionally or locally.
Quite new to the world of wet shaving and I must confess it really is a jungle for a noob like me.

As an examble, whitch hazel was something I discovered here on B&B.
I've never heard of it before, as with bay rum.
It simply is something you never would find here in Sweden in a store and I've never before heard of anyone using it.

I have no idea what to look for that is shaving related, perhaps when you get there you might stop by a barbershop to get the lowdown? Might be some good stuff!

and of course the straights.

In Sweden we have Heljestrand straight razors (as mentioned above by semi), the Palmolive cream and sticks at local bigger supermarkets and a lot of canned goo.
Only recently there seem to be a blooming trend about old school/DE barbershops online here. In Stockholm we have "Barber & Books". http://www.barberandbooks.se ..they offer a shave for a minimum fee of 60$ US according to the website.

Also found that Nordiska Museet has an exhibition about hair in general, where they offer a shaving school.

But i think this is much inspired by the videos on youtube by Geo and Mantic and thought of more as a trend.

Don't know much about shaving related gear in Morocco. I remember having tried something called Rassoul mud from The Body Shop (years ago...); it was a puck of soap intended to have scrubbing and cleaning effect. Dark but very effective; nice smell also.

Enjoy your trip!

Rassoul mud, that's good lead. :)

Thank you!

Sweden doesnt have a well developed shaving culture. As rfrost says, it is a lot of cartridges and canned goo.

If you are visiting south Sweden, there is barbershop called Gents who offers straight shaves, haircuts and has a good shop with everything for shaving and grooming. I bourght my first DE-razor there. :)

In Copenhagen (Denmark - we are connected with a bridge), 20 min train ride from Malmö or 40 min from Helsingborg, there is a shop called Essence & Grooming Havent been there but they seems to have a selection of Truefitt & Hill, Muhle and more.

- Get a straight razor shave from a barber
- Argan oil is from Morocco, can work as a (pre)shave oil
- Savon Noir
- Lots of leather workers in Morocco, perhaps get one of them to make you a custom travelbag for your gear...
- I've seen camel hair brushes on eBay, perhaps you can find one
