Notes to today’s shave:

Still in. Entering the final week of March for a first quarter restraint win!

The combination of the Flatboy and the G365 is usually a comfortable and effective one, but this morning I felt more harshness from the blade. Some light weepers were evidence to that feeling. So I backed down on the number of passes and went only very light touch ATG on my neck. The aftershave sting burn told me this was clearly an extremely close shave. Very nice and effective end result.

Full details to today's shave can be found here.

Enjoy your shave!

SOTD March 25th
GRUME-30/31er
SV Saturday
Semogue Saturdays

Hello friends,

Beautiful autumnal Saturday morning. Perfect to finish off a 3-day beard. In that sense, nothing better than get my tub of Saponificio Varesino and call the Fantastic Four: Merkur, Gillette, Semogue and Williams. What a team!
Aqua Velva Ice Blue paired surprisingly well with the aquatic aromas of the SV 70th Anniversary. Progress (5/4/3) was perfect with Nacet (2) and SOC Mistura my friends, it is an indescribable brush…

To accompany me on this journey towards Paradise, I invited my old friend Dexter.

Have a nice weekend and great shaves!

Day 25, 80.6% complete.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Ti Handle, Astra SP #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

The clock change wasn't in my favour, so had a quick autopilot shave plus tidy-up.

First shave with the WR2 1.65, which put me out of the February GRUME. It's been an insanely close BBS shave...

Looks great, Guido!

Still in, still very busy. But today I could break for a decent no pressure shave. With my evolving technique (some of it is so basic and simple I’m ashamed to mention it) I’m getting closer, quicker shaves, with negligible irritation. Rarely do I get the BBS I got today! (Feather and Tech).

2023 GRUYERE #49 - Still in
March 2023 GRUME #23 - Still in

Date: 03.24.23
Days growth: 3

Head shaver

Razor: 1940's Gillette Tech
Blade: Feather (2)
Brush: Custom Elk Antler Boar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: Burma Shave puck
Bowl: Burma Shave mug

Passes: 2

Post Shave Routine and products:
1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2
2 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
3 - Alum block
4 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1
5 - Aftershave - Grey Flannel EDT
6 - Balm: LEA 3in1

Time from shower on to dressed and ready: 60min.

NOTES: Second time on first feather blade that I have ever used. I am very happy, very smooth and very sharp! The Burma Shave soap is pretty good, has decent slickness and decent cushion. My boar brush worked much better than my pure badger brush that I first used with it. Easy going 2 pass shave DCS/DFS. Light feedback on right side of neck from the alum and aftershave but no big deal.
Quality: 9.5/10
Comfort: 9.5/10
Enjoyment: 9.5/10
Overall: 9.5/10

I really like the Burma Shave mug! Do you know about its history?
