Good shave overall. Third day in a row with the Sabre. Going to finish out this blade with the level 1 plate but looking forward to trying out the level 2 plate. I think I'll like it better but I hope I can shave daily with it also, like I can with the level 1.

Today's shave went well as I returned to Game Changer.
I decided to treat myself and brought up a very sparsely used soap - Catie's Bubbles.

Most days when I'm choosing the soap to use, I only smell the beautiful notes and put it back.

Today, I went all the way and used it.

Prep : warm shower / Bulldog original face wash
Pre shave : Proraso white
Brush : Proraso boar by Omega
Cream : Proraso white in a tube
Razor : Merkur 34 C
Blade : Shark Super Stainless (1)
Post : alum block and then Proraso White after shave balm

Result :

The skin said no, keep drying up on me. Surprisingly even though there was tugging all around , I only got 3 nicks . The alum block provided few feedback and the irritation was almost non existent. That blade is growing on me even though I can see this is not that sharp.

Still in. 1st shave of the month. Great shave but had a weird experience with the balm.

+ No cuts, irritation, redness or bumps / ingrowns
~ Almost no feed back with alum everywhere except chin and lip had some (not bad)
- Nicked the large mole on my neck (not unusual, do it every couple shaves)
- Tugged on ATG pass, really tugged on chin, goatee and lip, had to go really slow with short strokes.

First time using the B&M Seville balm. Have used the LGC balm a few times and love the feel on my face, how quickly it absorbs with no greasiness. With the Seville balm, it felt very thick on my fingers and almost had little grainy pieces in it, thought it was weird but applied it anyways. I put it on my face and it didn’t feel or look like it was absorbing, on my fingers and face felt like it had a layer on it. I let it sit a few minutes and noticed my face was really shiny like it had a film on it so I rubbed my face and the layer of balm started to come off into little chunks. Did this all over my neck and face. I washed my face, patted it dry, let it dry a few then tried it again, same thing happened. Washed my face and put on LGC balm and it worked great / how it is supposed to. Brought my wife in asked her to rub a little of the Seville on one hand and LGC on other, not telling her what had happened on my face and asked to tell me if they felt the same. She confirmed it, the Seville hand felt like it had a layer on it, the balm had a weird thick and grainy texture and the LGC felt like a cream / balm and absorbed. Weird, it smells normal but must have went bad or was a bad batch.

Kai blade wasn’t as sharp as the first shave, just like the first blade. First shave is fantastic then starts tugging a lot on second shave. Not sure how the next shaves are going to go.

I know this is comparing apples to oranges but I had a beard balm that had granules of beeswax in it. It felt very grainy/sandy. You had to rub it a lot in your hands to get it to heat up and melt. It also didn’t absorb and left a layer of ‘skin.’ Hence my dislike and eventual binning of an almost full tin.

If you rub the Seville in your hands and heat it do the grains disappear? Chances are you’re right and it’s just old or a bad batch.
