Making my amazon order >25

This is so weird. So basically, I am buying melatonin pills because I have anxiety and mild depression. HOWEVER I don't have a way to get off campus (I live on campus) so I basically have to get them off Amazon. But of course, the ones I want to get is an "add-on item" meaning I can't just have them ship that. My order has to be over $25 dollars in order for it to ship. I'm REAAAAAALLLY trying hard not to buy anymore shaving products because my parents would be disappointed in how much money of theirs I spent on it already. The sad part is, whenever I go on Amazon every single recommendation is about shaving! I can't seem to think of anything else, but the guilt of buying more shaving products just seems to appear when looking at what I could buy to make my order over 25. It seems silly, but I need your help. What could I order to make it more than 25 dollars? I need ideas. (The proraso pre-shave and proraso blue is really the worst tempting products right now....)

Buy something hobby or lifestyle related that can help with the depression. My kids could write off any purchase with my money if I believed it could help them. Books, zen garden, workout items, or even shaving items as long as I believed it was going to improve the quality and enjoyment of their life.

You could always order several bottles of Melatonin at one time to get that order up to $25+ ... but then again, that's no fun.

you could order some MP3s or eBooks for your Kindle if you have one. Take a look at the selection from Binaural Beats, they have a lot of 99c titles that will help take the edge off depression. Stephen Halpern is another artist who has many musical tracks with subliminal affirmations to help with mood-lifting.

As for the shaving products ... too many choose from. If you need more shave gear, get it from the BST. Not only is it cheaper than Amazon, its a lot more fun.

Give that Melatonin a good search once you are in Amazon. For those OTC drugs there are usually several online vendors that use Amazon as their "marketplace" and if you just buy a single plastic bottle of light pills the shipping is only about $2.99. You pay Amazon, and they get ahold of that merchant and the merchant sends it from his place.

Thanks for the help everyone. Don't worry about me and my depression. I've been seeing a therapist for a few weeks now. It's definitely helping, but as usual, some days are A LOT worse than others (Disthymia, in case you were wondering). My problem with buying more shaving products is that I already have enough to last a while. I might sell what is left of my Cella and MWF as I haven't been too impressed with either of them. I can't seem to tell if what helps is buying stuff for my shaving hobby, or just buying stuff in general. Is it the thrill of spending money(that's not mine, my parents give it to me) or the fact of further enhancing my hobby? Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy shaving, but sometimes the RAD and can wear me down. I was thinking about giving some of my stuff to my dad for father's day. I don't know if he'll use the DE razor, but I have a feeling that once he learned how to make a mean lather with a cream, he would still shave, but just with a cart. That doesn't bother me that much. At least that way, I won't feel bad for buying more products.

Back to the topic, I might actually have a ride to target today. They have 60ct 3mg pills. One of my friends who a some circadian disorder takes melatonin. I asked for a pill a few nights ago. I took it and had the greatest sleep I've gotten since last summer BY FAR.

tl;dr: I can't make up my mind!

+1 on the workout gear. Whatever 'it' is...biking, running, skiing, etc. Exercise helps boost my spirits and since it burns energy [in a healthy way], I sleep well too.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Soccer is the best cure for insomnia.

on edit: That can be from either playing or watching. If you play, you will run about five miles and have maybe one shot on goal. The running will wear you out. If you are watching, you will watch people run about five miles and have a couple shots on goal. In this instance, the boredom will eventually get you.

People, people!!!! Listen! I do appreciate the advice, but I already got the same from my therapist :001_tt2: We have a Rec center on campus that I try to go to when I am free. Studying Electrical Engineering though is a major time consumer! That's why I gotta get a good shave, so I don't look mangy like the other engineers!!!!

Turns out Target only had one bottle of Melatonin left....and it was already opened! I notified the pharmacist and he threw it out. Dangit!

You're a student - get an amazon prime account for $39 a year for 4 years! Free 2 day shipping, no worries about $25 or more purchases, and you get access to the massive video library.

As far as I know, the Add-on program does not work with Prime. I've been Prime user since forever and for Add-on items I need to have a >$25 order.

This Add-On program is a move that benefits Amazon because small items now need to be attached in order to be shipped for free. For example, I have purchased several of these in the past, free tow day shipped at my door:

And now I need to buy a Prime-qualifying item + this, or buy several to complete the $25 order. The same happened with cooking oil and other small items I used to buy. :(

Way ahead of you! In fact, I'm so far ahead of you that my free 6 months of Amazon student is almost up! I am considering buying another year, but I don't buy a whole lot off Amazon. Since I have recently discovered that Amazon sells TOBS though, that might change:laugh: I don't think I do enough online shopping in order to justify buying Prime. Maybe, maybe not.

^This. All I wanted was a bottle of 60ct 1mg of Melatonin. I ended up buying 2 100ct bottles of 1mg Melatonin in order to get Prime. The ONLY way I could get Prime with that order was if I either got 1 bottle of 300ct or 2 bottles of 100ct (which was 5 bucks cheaper). But I couldn't get the 60ct because it was the add-on. The size of the bottle is no different. Whatever!

Thankfully, it was all less than 12 bucks!

Lots of good ideas. I consider shaving a moving meditation and so good in dealing with depression. That said, not sure you need one of the acquisition disorders right now. So pick one of the suggestions above that most appeals to you, or do something else. You are young and you sound adaptable. I bet you can come up with a creative solution, and still get that good shave.

That's weird, I buy < $25 in one shipment all the time and tack on my prime = better than Walmart or target. Maybe I'm an amazon platinum diamond member and I don't know it.

Have a friend take you to a drugstore or Wal-Mart to buy your melatonin. Nature Made is my most trusted manufacturer of supplements.

I agree with you that you do not need to get more shaving stuff. Most of us on the shaving forums have several lifetimes of shaving stuff. It can become a true addiction. It is good to be contented with what you've got and sell the rest.

Talk therapy, exercise, friends, music help with depression and anxiety and melatonin definitely helps with sleep and sleep is good for mental health and physical health.

The Melatonin may not be an effective long term treatment. I take it on occasion because of shift work and it's benefits diminish rather quickly. However, if I stop taking it for a two or three weeks the next one works great. Then the cycle starts over.

I only plan on taking it before big test days when I need it most. My neighbors seem to choose the night before I have a major test to come back drunk as heck. :thumbdown I have been feeling good since last Tuesday though. Getting a nice deep sleep on Friday from the melatonin works wonders. I was going to try and get the Nature Made brand, but Target only sold pills in 3mg and 5mg. Keep in mind that your body produces 5-25 micrograms per day. A 2mg pill is more than 80 times the average body secretion. That's why I plan on only taking 1mg. Taking anything more than 3mg is just absurd!

You can clear the suggestions list so you're not tempted. I always keep a lot of items in my wish list so I can scan through it to find an item that's the right price to hit the 25 mark.
