Making aftershave from EDT

I love the scent of Penhaligon's Opus 1870, and have often wished that they made an aftershave splash. I know that they make an aftershave balm, but I much prefer splashes to balms.

Here's my thought: mix a small amount of Opus 1870 EDT with an unscented aftershave splash, thereby creating an Opus 1870 aftershave splash. I'm thinking of using Lucido AS for the base (it's available in a Japanese market near me). Do you think a 1:10 (1 part EDT to 10 parts Lucido) ratio is enough EDT, or do I need more EDT in the mix to make this work? For benchmark purposes, I like subtle aftershave splashes like DR Harris Marlborough and Arlington.

Am I nuts for thinking this just might work?

I don't know why it wouldn't work.

You can always start with a small amount, see how you like it, and then increase it if you want more scent. It's easier to add more EDC than it is to take it out after it's been added.

I would recommend to add some skin treating ingredients.
For every 100ml AS I add:
- 1ml glycerin
- 1ml concentrated aloe vera
- 1ml sorbitol

I never have a dry skin and do not need any balm since I'm doing this.

I do something similar with Spanish Leather...but nowhere near as precise. I give myself self a nice spash of unscented witch haze and before it dries spray some SL in my palms and rub it into the drying witch hazel.

What about mixing EDT with Witch Hazel and Rubbing alcohol to create an AS??

Wp

You can't use rubbing alcohol in an aftershave.

The type of alcohol they use in aftershaves is different; I think it's denatured alcohol, but I'm neither a chemist nor an aftershave producer. I know for sure that rubbing alcohol in an aftershave is a bad, bad idea.

Dave - Did you go through with this and if so, how is it performing?

I received the BB splash for Christmas and now want English Fern and Juniper Sling aftershave splashes which Pen's does not manufacture.

Wijkowski, how do you like the BB as splash? scent and longevity?

Before I received the BB, I thought the Myrsol splashes were the best out there. With that said, the BB splash is the best I have used to date. It leaves my face feeling great and longevity is a good 3-5 hours on me.

The scent is intoxicating and a classic. The price may be off-putting to some, but I think it is worth it. I cannot recommend it enough.

I just wish Pen's would create aftershave splashes for their other lines.

I have had great success mixing a drop or two of Jack Black MP10 with a splash of Lucido and a spray or two of any EdT, resulting in a fine smelling AS splash with great skin care.
