Makeshift Humidor

I’ve been doing the cigar thing for a little while and let me say that I live in upstate New York and understand your weather. I’ve spent a few dollars on cheap wooden humidors, expensive wooden humidors and a few things in between. For aging and storage I have a wineador. Thermoelectric with humidity beads makes it almost foolproof.
Xikar among others make hard plastic travel cases that I would also recommend. XIKAR | Travel Humidors - https://www.xikar.com/products/containers/travel-humidors/
I have the 60 count. If you remove some of the foam inserts you can increase the storage quite a bit.
In a nutshell, the wooden desktop humidors are wonderful to look at but less efficient. I use them for cigars that I will smoke more often.
As in any hobby ymmv and the choices are many. Enjoy.

So . . . if I am looking long term for storage (2 years +), I guess that is the way to go (electric). Anything under that and a standard humidor, or one of my improvised ones, will be fine. Am I reading the lay of the land correctly?
