Maintenance advice needed

I just received a great PIF, a carbon steel shave ready straight from Gash. Thanks again Gash!

There's a bit of rust right at the pivot point, plastic scales. I don't want it to get any worse. What's the best way to keep that spot dry and keep it from rusting any more?

Thanks,
Scott

You may be able to remove the active rust using metal polish on dental floss. Once it is gone it should not come back as long as the razor is dried properly. I use TP to get into the inside of the scales, but the best idea is to avoid getting that area wet in the first place, if possible.

I've got some tiny Dremel tools that can take care of what I can see. The dental floss is a good idea for getting between the scales. I guess I can't just douse this one in the sink like my DE :)

Thanks,
scott
