Magnets on the bottom of brush and How to adjust loft?

I saw a pic awhile ago of someone who made a brush and added magnets on the bottom so he could hang his brush on a metal plate and would bno longer need a brush rack, has anyone else done that. It seems like a great idea but ive seen no one else really mention that. Im about to make my 1st brush but and ive been thinking of adding 3 small rare earth magnets to my brush bottom.

Also I need advice, how do you control the size of the loft in the brush. Im using a 24mm finest and I have no idea as to how to make it bigger or smaller.

To change the size, you:

A. Drill the hole deeper to get less loft by putting the knot in deeper.
B. Add material shims to make the hole shallower to get more loft.

Here is a diagram of shimming.

As to magnets, they can be placed inside if they are strong "rare earth" magnets or placed on the bottom of the handle like a puck if it is made the same size as the bottom.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the amazing detailed help, and the magnets do u think its a good idea i could hang it normally or add in a metal plate and hang it anyway the plat can hold.

That really is up to you. They don't do any harm and if you want to eliminate a stand for upside down hanging then that is one way to do it.

I put one of the 'puck' type magnets in the bottom of my solid set that I restored. I don't have anything to hang it from at the moment but it added good weight to the handle. And it gives me the option later which I'm happy about.
