hope you fine folks can help me. I'm down to my last tube of Bigelow shaving cream and i want to try a shaving soap next. I'd like to get some recommendations on a soap that is made in the USA and costs under $20. i understand there are probably A LOT so just hit me with your favorite. i'm not familiar with scents but i know i don't want one that smells like the Bigelow cream. i'm more interested in made in the USA and under $20

suggestions please!

I'm a fan of Mama Bear. http://mamabearssoaps.com/ and she has samples for $1 each or less if you get one of her sample packs. We have several other good vendors on here, but I have never tried them.

Good old VDH Deluxe is made in Texas I believe and is $2 a puck at most drugstores or the big box stores.

If it's available at your local Target (some carry it, some don't), give the VDH Luxury soaps (available either in scented or unscented versions) a try. Very nice soaps, US-made, and about $4.00/large puck!

ya know i shouldn't say this but im going to anyway. last year when i first got in to wet shaving i bought a VDH soap puck at walmart and tried it once. i didnt get a bad shave at all and had good lather but i decided that because of the price it had to be a cheap crummy soap so i tossed it out and went with the Bigelow cream. Cut to a year later and i become a member hear and find out (through this thread and many others here) that VDH is actually not a bad soap at all.

DOH'!
