Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year

Read a blurb about this Scotch on Valetmag and it sounds interesting. Has anybody tried this and share their opinion? This price isn't too bad either, between $30.00-$40.00 depending on where you look, which is cheap for Macallan!

"Matured in both European oak sherry casks and American oak barrels, this is a good Highland whiskey to try. It's dry, but delicious with touches of soft caramel that are balanced by some natural oak and malt."

Indeed underwhelming. It just hasn't been in a sheery cask long enough to really get to be Macallan-like. Find a bottle of Balvenie Double Wood or Single Barrel.

Cheers,

+1. Balvenie Double Wood in sherry cask beats it hands down. If I'm gonna get Macallan, I'll stick to the 18. Everything else they do seems to fall a bit short.

I had a bottle a while ago. All I really remember is being underwhelmed and it didn't seem to have too much flavour ... kind of a "lady's scotch" if that makes sense.
