I've had this brush for quite a while. Don't remember how long or where from. Always thought it was cool, but didn't have a good way to try making a handle based on it. Now I do.

Should have mentioned that new handle is shown as machined, i.e., unfinished in any way. Sanding and polishing soften the edges around the 16 facets (in the direction of the original, which I'd guess was tumbled, but I could be wrong about that).

Does anyone know anything about the vintage brush shown in the OP?

Has anyone seen one somewhere else?

The closest I’ve seen are the brushes from Simpsons from the 1950s (shown on the illustration in the background); although their models appear to have fewer facets and always show asymmetry between the top and bottom portions of the brush. Maybe the faceted style could at least point you to the correct decade of manufacture?

I was looking at brush pics because this has bugged and bugged me. Could it be an Opal? The knots look similar and the octagonal pattern is there. Opal was just printed on, so it wearing off could be plausible.
