I've had this brush for quite a while. Don't remember how long or where from. Always thought it was cool, but didn't have a good way to try making a handle based on it. Now I do.

That's going to be a good handle shape and grip.

It works surprisingly well. The old brush has a knot that's a little over 17 mm in diameter where it inserts into the handle. The one I made has a 26 mm socket. I used it yesterday and like it a lot.

Should have mentioned that new handle is shown as machined, i.e., unfinished in any way. Sanding and polishing soften the edges around the 16 facets (in the direction of the original, which I'd guess was tumbled, but I could be wrong about that).
Pretty cool, Ken. I wonder how they'd look in Micarta.

I was looking at brush pics because this has bugged and bugged me. Could it be an Opal? The knots look similar and the octagonal pattern is there. Opal was just printed on, so it wearing off could be plausible.
