Lucky Scent

I'm curious whether anyone has bought cologne from Lucky Scent? Looking through their website, the only colognes that I recognize are Penhaligons, Czech & Speake and Domenico Caraceni 1913. It looks as though they carry hard to find colognes. Since they also offer samples for a majority of their colognes, I ordered 2 each samples of 88 and DC 1913. They seem to be a reputable dealer but their prices are high but this may be due to their hard to find merchandise. Lucky Scent

They seem expensive. Looks like absolutely full retail MSRP for edts and $4 for a .7 ml (tiny) sample of say C&S 88? I think you can do better. They may have things you cannot get elsewhere, but that is not so for C&S, Pen's, or Domenico Caraceni 1913, as far as I know. (I guess I am less certain re the last one.) I am not sure a .7 ml is enough for me to tell anything about a scent from.

They're good for some things but their prices on the C&S frags are ridiculously high. Either ordering direct from C&S or via Cambridge Chemists is the way to go.

Agreed. They are pricey, but carry many products that are hard to find. One thing I don't like is their sample program. They're expensive and extremely small....1ml at the most.

I've had very good dealings with Lucky Scent.

They have one brick and mortar outlet...a very small store called SCENT BAR here in Los Angeles. I am fortunate to work a half mile from the place. I drove past it everyday for years and never realized what it was.

They're pretty knowledgeable and helpful. It's fantastic to have access to the store since they'll let you shpritz a little of anything for free. The store is so small, they don't stock everything...mostly meant to be a place to sample, then order.

After a few dealings with them, I get the impression it's a smaller outfit than the slick website would lead you to believe. At least they come off as pretty personable online and in store.

They do carry a wide variety of scents that are indeed hard to find elsewhere. I've had very good experiences with them- both in store and online.

Yeah, the samples are pricey, but I don't know what else you do if you don't have access to those scents other places. Indeed Cambridge Chemists who I've also dealt with are great. But I don't think they stock Caraceni. Or Montale Black Aoud. I'm a fanatic for giving test wear. Some of my favorite scents and best reviewed scents don't last an hour on me and wearing is the only way to tell.

Depending on where you live, there might be a local retailer- usually smaller independent retailers and boutiques-- who carry some of the frags you're looking to sample. It can take some time googling around to find them. C&S No. 88 seems to be carried a few places here in Los Angeles. But I never found DC 1913 anyplace but Lucky Scent.

Great service and with the [perpetual] code 'MUA' (probably has a minimum $ restriction) you can get free shipping. That being said, their price is not always the absolute best-best, but it's usually competitive. Sometimes prices on foreign websites are better, but then international shipping kills the deal. Their lines are mostly in the Niche category rather than in the designer realm, as you seemed to have figured out :)

You may want to check out theperfumedcourt.com. They seem to have better prices and a better selection of decant sizes.

I have yet to order from them but if anyone else has I would be curious as to your experience with them

There is a forum called "The Crystal Flacon" that is an informal group of scent freaks who offer decants. Prices vary. Basenotes members are good sources, too.
