Likes a fat handle in his hand
Took out the Blue Oliblade adjustable for a spin!
it's been a few weeks since I used it.
My nightly 2 pass WTG/XTG, Astor Bic blade, OneBlade Black Tie Lavender shaving cream
and finished off with some Nivea Sensitive post shave balm. (setting 4 first pass & setting 3 for the second pass!)
A perfect smooth & efficient shave! :)
They need to get this thing back in production.
What a wonderful razor!

+1 love your photo, what a great set. 😍

I had my shave tonight with the bronze Guerrilla .69 OC and used an Astor Bic blade for the first time on this razor.
It's got to be the best shave I've had with it!
Using the Schick, Gillette Wilkinson & Feather have all been great but something about the Astor raised the satisfaction up a notch. Could be my familiarity with the feel of this blade or something of the sort (I guess!)
Whatever it was, it felt even smoother than the others and a "softer" feeling shave if that makes sense!
The finish was incredibly good where I'll probably just stick with the Astor on this razor from here going forward.
It was absolutely sublime!
I'd still like to try the Personna Lab Blue though which has been my other standard use blade.
I have a feeling the Astor will beat it (since it worked so well) but we'll see.
I'll give that other combo a whirl tomorrow night!

I shaved a fortune

I have a couple tucks of the Astors Theo sent along with my Athenas. I haven't tried them yet... I have a few tucks of various blades, yet to be tried.

I've pretty much stayed with my regulars.... Perma-Sharps, Nacets, Dura Sharps, the new to me German Schicks, Wizamets every so often, same with Kai blades.

So I think today is a good day to list my current modern favorites (razors!)
The right time because:
I had a phenomenal shave tonight and because I think I've had enough shaves with
the razors I'm going to mention.
Remember (I always have to specify): I don't shave ATG! Daily WTG/XTG on coarse, very fast growing whiskers!
So if your shave routine is somewhat like mine, my results might help.
If not (ATG, soft hair and maybe non-daily shavers), take this with a grain of salt.
Also, after much trial & error with tons of razors throughout my shaving journey, my razors have to have positive exposure and the ability to comfortably do it's job at a neutral to shallow angle. Some blade gap is preferable!
This is the only way that I can get a close enough shave that's non-ATG (at night) that'll last me throughout my workday.
Tonight's shave was with the Timeless .95 OC, smooth top cap and long Pineapple handle and using a
Astor Bic second use blade.
As I mentioned, my shave was excellent. It's always excellent with either the .95 SCL and the .95 OC!

So in no particular order, here are my modern favorites. These up to now are everything that I've seeked:
1. Wolfman Guerrilla .69 OC in Bronze and the .69 OC aluminum for travel (I love it so much that I'll probably
eventually order one in stainless too)
2. Timeless .95 SCL and the .95 OC (I like interchanging both the 85mm & 100mm handles with both heads)
3. Colonial CR7 aluminum (This one came out of left field and it deservedly landed on this list)
4. Stando Mokosz Satin stainless (Another major surprise)
5. Shield Predator GEM in both stainless & brass (The best GEM's I've tried!)
6. Asylum Injector (In my opinion, the best Injector razor)

Can this change? Absolutely! But the difference now is that these are my absolute best.
That means that others can possibly be added to the list if they make the cut,
i.e., I've got the Blackbird SB Bronze on order and I've never tried one. So who knows, maybe something
like that can be a top player as well.
One other thing to mention, I've got other great razors that work really well but they don't quite reach the level that these do. At some point I'll also get to my vintage ones and see what are my best oldies.
I've got a good idea on which ones are best but I need to revisit them all in order to get a true assessment.
So that's it, Happy shaving to all!!

Another excellent shave tonight with the Colonial CR7 plate #3!
I used an Astor Bic blade and some OneBlade Black Tie Lavender shaving cream and it was pure awesomeness.
This Colonial razor keeps impressing me more & more!
One thing I noticed tonight that I hadn't given much thought:
Not only is this razor supremely smooth and super efficient, but it does so in a manner that
feels as if you can't cut yourself (or at least it'd be difficult to do so).
It's rather strange since you can definitely feel the blade with it's positive exposure but
you feel like something is guarding it from getting below the skin. I don't use pressure and I'm sure it'll cut
if you do, but it does it's entire job without any type of work from the user.
So the end result of that is absolute zero irritation and no sting whatsoever on the post shave.
Whoever engineered it, put everything into this package.
It's wonderful!
I think I mentioned it before where I'm hoping that they come out with a "heavy" version:
Stainless, brass, etc.., would be very very nice.
I hope this is just the beginning of what they'll offer.

Here we go again!
Another USPS issue!
Once again I've sold something, shipped it on Saturday to California and it's now in Puerto Rico!
It started moving on Saturday and from Orlando it shows the next destination as Carolina, PR.
So now if it hopefully gets back on track, it'll arrive with a delay.
Nobody likes to wait so this stinks. Last time this happened, it sat in Puerto Rico for a few days
before it got back on track. But back on track means that it'll fly back to here and then once again
start from scratch to get trucked across the whole country. Ugh!!

Edit: I just thought about this:
The hurricane damage!
From here, all the way through the state (via the panhandle West or North through Georgia and the Carolinas),
lots of damage and closed roads. Those are the usual routes!
I'm hoping that they might purposely be using Puerto Rico's hub as an alternate in order to route packages via air and back to another city here where it can successfully continue by truck
We'll see how this one pans out!

I had 2 vintage watches (after being serviced) shipped from Jax Fl; they sat on them for one week....., I called and then it moved. Came to my city......kept 3 days at a hellish distribution center......and then they appeared at an Indian reservation in AZ..... had to open a formal complaint....then it came......2W's+.

Just today: I have been expecting some blades, should have been here Sat....., still nothing today....but they managed to jam a box in the mail box instead of just dropping it in front of the door.....

Service= horrible.....

Read the edit I put now on my post above yours while you were writing this:
A possible (I hope) hurricane connection to the package routing!
Yeah, it stinks when those things happen. I've had my share of experiences with USPS and have posted about them here on my journal.

I got an email last night from Aliexpress that they were having a "Choiceday" sale today.
I didn't even know what that was but apparently they do it occasionally.
So of course I looked into it since I saw the word "SALE!"
Coincidentally Yesterday, @Eben Stone had mentioned the Yaqi Knight helmet razor on the "Best El Cheapo Razor" thread that @DesertIguana created. It's supposed to be mega aggressive and it looks cool so it piqued my interest.
I ordered one to try it out!
I also picked up a Yaqi Mellon head which I had seen a while back.
That one looks interesting as well since it's a "dual open comb" razor.

They're both matted chrome Zamac which means they're really cheap. But they're supposed to be decent quality!
I also decided to throw in a nice Yaqi synthetic 26mm brush in a nice dark blue finish and a Resin razor stand that's
also in a blue finish.
Grand total: $30 from the Yaqi Factory Store
It'll be interesting to try both of those razors out and I've got plenty of extra handles that should work great for both. I'll do a follow up whenever they arrive!

Tonight's shave was with the Bronze Guerrilla .69 OC!
First time using it with a Personna Lab Blue and it was a win for that blade.
I'd say it was par to the Astor Bic which I think is the other best blade I've tried
with that razor. The Schick is fantastic but for some reason I'm feeling really good
right now with my old trusty "go-to" blades.
Sharpness? Maybe!
The Schick I believe is sharper than the Lab Blue and Astor Bic,
or at least that's how it feels for me!
So I'm basically getting what I feel is a "softer" feeling shave but still as
efficient as I need it to be.
Overall, an excellent shave as always from what I'd say is my favorite razor right now.
Tomorrow night I'll be using the Stando Mokosz with a Lab Blue as well
to see how that one fares.

I guess here is the answer to this from USPS's website:

I have the blue Yaqi Timberwolf brush, it is quite good. I do prefer the Rainbow Pony, just by a hair.

I also have that stand, but in metal. It is very useful, I put the razor horizontally to dry after rinsing and opening it a bit.

You'll enjoy both.
It'd be the first Yaqi brush I try. I have another smaller one I bought way back but have never used it. It's sitting in my "brushes to use" box.
But I think it's time to put my other brushes to work. My trusty Razorock Disruptor needs to be retired already.
As for the stand, I was going to buy the stainless one but it showed that the diameter of the hole is smaller than the resin stand.
I was afraid that it wouldn't fit every razor and I bought the stand in order to use it as a
daily "air dry the razor" stand.
I won't be using it for display purposes!
So the resin should do just fine for that.
