Love my Rocket !

So when I decided to try Real wet shaving about a month ago, I was browsing around the web and ended up with a Mehaz supposed made in Germany DE(didn't want to invest too much to start off with). I also asked my Mother if she still had her old DE razor. My Mehaz arrived, and I picked up some Wilkinson soap and blades locally and gave it a shot. Admittedly a better shave than my Cartridge and Goo shaves, but not so great. Ordered up a blade sampler, worked my way up to Feathers but still pretty disappointed with my results on the tougher spots on my chin. Then Mom found her razor. I can't pin down the exact year, but its a late 40's early 50's Gillette Rocket, English made - from what I understand pretty similar to the SuperSpeed. Wow, what a difference! I'm working my way back "down" to Derbys and Precisions and still getting a FDS - and no, its not just practice, although that helps for sure, because I went back to the Mehaz to start my shave tonight and it was just as bad as ever. I Love my Rocket ! (Did I mention that? :) ). I'm going to work on my technique with this razor and them probably start looking for SS's next !

Also love BandB and all the great tips and advice !!

cheers

The standard English rocket is a well crafted, mild and nicely balanced shaving machine. Its very similar to a S/S in mildness but has a better feel and build IMO. Enjoy.

I have a Rocket for over a year without ever getting a comfortable shave with it. I must admit I'm not a big fan of TTO's at all, I have a SuperSpeed that I don't love and I got rid of my Slim. Then one day I tried the Rocket with a Treet black beaty and it shaved wonderfully. I need to buy more of those blades when I think about it.

I have a rocket which gives me an excellent shave. If I have a couple of days growth its not the best razor to use, for me. I always go back to it and get a great shave. I agree with BRITD its very well balanced too.

I just recently acquired a very nice HD in a BST trade (thanks, Gary!). Love this razor. My usual rotation of changing razors when needing a fresh blade has been disrupted for the time being. :001_smile

I have my Grandfathers British Rocket and it is a great shaver, real close and comfortable. I enjoy it even more knowing that my Grandfather obviously thought highly of it also.

Which reminds me, Its time to give it a cleaning and polish
