Love astras but hate the glue?

Join the club.

I absolutely love astras but everytime I open one it's like a present...I think to myself..."maybe the glue won't be so bad on this one..."

anyway...random thread for a great blade...

Where do they think that wrapper is going? My 7 O'Clock yellows are double wrapped and they still glob on all that glue/wax.

My simple solution is to use the blade I'm replacing the new one with to scrape off the glue spots from the fresh one prior to sticking it in the razor. Just don't be stupid and do this in your hand...place th enew blade flat on the countertop, and do one spot at a time. No glue!

Astras are my go to after using up my sample pack. Had no idea what people were talking about. Yes there was wax on the blades but seemed to be pretty well away from the edge.

After buying a 100 pack I now know. Wax all the way to the edge of the blade.

If it's bad enough I've been scraping the wax away from the edge with the old blade........

Bah, a bit of glue... Sure, the blade get stuck on the plate or the head sometimes but usually, no drama, I pull on it and it's all good. One thing is for sure, that blade is secure in the packaging!!

I don't understand all the glue. Do they think we are going to carry the blades around in our back pockets or something? Double-wrapped and glued? That's a bit much, I'd say.

Astra's are the only blade I use now. I got over the whole glue thing after about a week. I really don't even think about it anymore. Great blades though.

Never had any glued blades get stuck anywhere in my razors. Hrm, have I been lucky? I didn't understand what people where talking about with their dislike of glue spots until this thread! Thanks for clearing that up!

I did put one spot side up in me Parat one time.

When I tried to open the doors, the glue spots were stuck to the the doors. When it finally opened there was a "twang" type noise as the blade came away from the doors and the blade "unflexed"

Potentially dangerous ????

This works, but I've decided not to deal with this. At the moment I'm between Derbys and Bolzanos.

I'm off to use a fresh astra in my slim. See you guys this afternoon!

That's my fav shave set up. Astra in the Slim, and YES I just don't like the glue. At first I didn't care too much, but I've had a couple of blades with BIG gobs of it, which is no good. I had some Wilky Swords that were drenched in goo, too. Bah!

Yup, had the same thing happen with a 7 O'Clock yellow in my Futur...the blade stuck to the top cap, and when I popped it off, the blade went with it, stuck for a sec, and then literally poope off and jumped out of my hand. Not cool with the glue...not cool at all, lol...
