lost treasure

after reading the best of the most admired aftershaves,i have reached two conclusions...first,beyond any doubt ,superior 70 bay rum from puerto rico is the pennywise all time best buy...secondly...I must be one of the shavers on the forum with a few more years of shaving under my belt...(so to speak)..I vividly remember out here in california during the 50's and 60's all the local barber shops always had bay rum ,but also ,they always had SEA BREEZE for those who did not like the rum..this is my choice as the #2 all time best buy in aftershave...it is really great stuff..it does what an aftershave should do..close nicks, sooth and disinfect...that was the whole purpose of aftershave...the antiseptic properties....a GALLON of sea breeze on ebay is $25 plus shipping...even at $35 per gallon it's a real steal...it smells great..it lost popularity around the time barber shops started closing and pink walled "style centers" started opening up....too masculine a scent for some, not to mention when did you ever walk into a "style salon" and see vivid spicy centerfold photos on the walls ?? that was my absolute favorite memory as a kid going for a haircut (the magazine rack was # 2 !!)

Yep--Sup. 70 is a great deal and a great bay rum. As far as the "pure" bay rums go (meaning just bay leaves, alcohol) it's my favorite along with Dominica. I do love Pinaud and Ogallala too--in fact I havn't found a bay rum that I don't like. It's nice to rotate between a few.

I used to use Seabreeze all the time during my teens for acne issues. It seemed to help and I WELL remember that potent scent. Never tried it as an aftershave though--probably works great.

Great avatar, Malocchio--Shemp was one funny guy!

+1 My mom is a beautician and got it for me as a teen. They still sell it at Sally's. I was tempted to pick some up.

this is really good stuff for skin problems of all types...it still comes in 16 and 32 oz. bottles also..look in "barber supply" houses.....if it is really bad,i would relather my face after you shave with an antiseptic liquid soap from any pharmacy, after letting it sit on your face for 2 minutes ,rinse it off and then apply an alcohol based aftershave ,and sea breeze is one of the best...if you don't see a change in 2 or 3 weeks, start applying a 10% acne gel after shaving, but OMIT the aftershave while using the 10% benzoyl peroxide gel
