Lord DE Safety Razor

I saw this on the bay. I know we cant post ebay auctions, but this isnt an auction. this guy is selling over 20 of these at a fixed price, so its no different than posting a link to classicshaving.com as far as i can see... Now back on topic. Anybody had any experience with these lord tto's. the guy claims its all metal which would be good. I want to know if its a decent shaver or not and how it might compare to the shave of a super speed.

This razor came up a couple of weeks ago in another thread. It is probably chinese and sold by various vendors and under different brand names. I don't know anything about the quality but expect little.

Lord doesn't make any TTO's; check their factory website!

+1

I am sure that razor is of cheap, horrible construction, with little in the way of quality control. It would be a total insult to Lord's otherwise excellent offerings in the razor, and blade markets. :thumbup1:

Lord does make a number of three piece razors that are in fact very very good:

Lord Tech

Lord Smart

The Lord Tech is an almost exact clone of a late model Gillette Tech. The Lord Smart features a head that is very similar in design to a Merkur, and shaves wonderfully. :tongue_sm

thanks for the responses guys. I won't touch that razor with a 10 foot pole...

I don't blame you. Apparently in some parts of the world, Lord is a well known brand name, so much so that companies want to associate themselves with their products. In addition to phony Lord razors, there are also fake Lord blades produced in China/ Asia, that are some of the worst blades on the market.

I have one. For the few dollars it costs it is okay. Very light, but usable. Does not compare in feel to an old tech.

I'm a skeptic in terms of the ability of a cheapo knockoff company to produce a decent razor. You need a fair amount of QC and somewhat decent manufacturing tolerances to produce a good razor.

The only reason I was considering it is because I thought it was a real Lord (made in Egypt?), and I had heard some good reviews about them. But sense its a Chinese knock-off there is no way I am going near it. I don't want lead poisoning when that thing cuts me lol...

The real ones are not that much more expensive; just too bad the best one (new model LP-1822) is still impossible to get in the states.

But for under $10 you can have the older tech-like razor and for just a few $$ more you can have the Smart razor fitted with the new Merkur-classic like head. With either model you will have a decent shaver for just a few bucks.

+1 I much prefer the Lord model that has the Merkur classic like head, and the metal handle, bu the Lord Smart (which has a plastic handle) is a very good razor as well. :tongue_sm
