loose stem all of a sudden

Can anyone tell me why the (plastic stem) in my Savinelli became loose fitting all of a sudden?
It does tighten up when the pipe heated up.
Any help is appreciated, I love this pipe!!!!

I don't know the mechanics behind it loosening, but a quick fix is that when the pipe is cool, pull it apart and put a layer of clear nailpolish on the tenon and let it dry and then lightly sand. Repeat layers and sanding until it fits snug when cool.

Edit: Don't do this unless you feel comfortable or the stem is in danger of falling right out. Sometimes the problem will correct itself, don't hesitate to send to a professional if you have doubts on your ability.

If it's just loose, smoke it once or twice before you do anything. These things will often correct themselves on their own.

I have smoked through this problem for at least a few weeks. Unfortunately it has not corrected itself.
Would the nail polish introduce poison fumes when heated? It sounds easy enough to perform if its safe?

Yes it would. The components of nail polish are toxic, and inhaling them will do serious damage which can land you in the hospital.

Apply beeswax all around the tenon and reinsert it into the pipe and smoke it. Heat will melt the beeswax and it will be pulled into the shank causing the briar to expand and snug up the fit.
