I was in the same boat you were in OP looking for my first vintage a couple of days ago I ended up buying a travel tech and it shaves great pretty mild but with a sharp blade the combo works but I ended up buying a slim just couldn't get the idea of owning and adjustable out of my mind it should be getting here tomorrow but you will like the tech

I respect your journey into Gillette vintage razors. If you want a truly close, efficient shave, however, you should consider some new models. I always turn to my ATT H2, R41, Ikon Shavecraft Tech and FaTip over my vintage Olds, News, Slim and Tech. Just me.

I have quite a few vintage Gillettes but as much as I love my adjustables, if I want the smoothest, closest and most comfortable shave, I always reach for my Fat Handled Tech, with a Feather blade. I love it so much I've just finally got myself a Thin Handled Tech.
