What's new

looking for some help.

So me and my brother have been talking about getting into straight razors as he decided to go to traditional wet shaving with me last year.

He sent me these 2 blades he found at a local antique shop near him. The blade on top in the photos is a LF&C and the one on the bottom is a Torrey in need of a little help.
I don't know much about either one of these but the torrey does have a little oxidization on it.

So are these worth having honed or should I get them restored? and where should I go?

They both look pretty good. I wouldn't go to the extent of having them professionally restored yet. Clean them up with a little polish like Maas, carefully. Then send them to be honed by one of our many members offering the service. Pick up a strop and shave a while. If you like it there's always time for razors and restorations.

+1

Good looking razors that really don't need much done to them.

You also don't want to spend money on restoring, when potentially, this could be your "feel around" razor. In the 2-4 months time you might want to try a big blade, heavier. You might start looking at different ground types.

Other than a polish I would hone it and enjoy. If you need assistance in honing or polishing PM me. I would be more than happy to help you out.

Solid advice ^. Congratulations.

Thanks for the suggestions fellows I have not got around to cleaning them yet but that will happen this weekend before I send them to get honed.
