Looking for information on this JA Henckels razor

My FIL gave me this razor last weekend and I was hoping someone could help me identify what it is, whether or not its salvageable and if so, would it be worth it to restore it? Being a DE guy, I don't really speak the language of SR, so I don't know if this is a razor that should be kept or something a collector would toss. My FIL was going to throw it out but remembered I had a display full of old DEs, so he brought it with him on his last visit in case I wanted it. It holds no sentimental value, it's just an old razor he found at his house that he didn't even remember he had. Is she a keeper or recycle material?

It looks to be in quite good shape no nicks or cuts on the blade/scales
Could polish it up get it honed and it'll be shave ready

Pretty sure a few people will hone that baby up for you

If you don't want it, I'll get rid of it for you and pay for shipping

The blade does have some chips in it. I meant to post this photo in my original post but skipped it accidentally.

Blade looks kind of small (4/8th) maybe, and taking those chips out will make it even smaller.

Keep it for show, but I wouldn't put any money into getting it restored.
These are good razors, but far from rare and are pretty common.

it also looks like it has a slight frown :( i agree that it would make a good display piece and is something to cherish since it was ur FIL that gave it to u. i like the way those scales look.

It's definitely a nice razor and a good brand. Having twins (kids) myself, I think it'd be a cool razor to have just to display.

It would probably hone up to be able to use, but it would be a bit smaller when it was done.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I believe I will try to clean it up and stick it in the display case. Speaking of case, I may try to look for an original box for this thing. Anyone know the correct box/case that this one came with?

Nice scales. You could make it into a good razor most likely. My only concern would be whether the corrosion turned the edge a bit hole-y. If so, then it might have to be taken back as much for that as the chips. Still... looks recoverable. I had a 5/8 that looked about like that a couple weeks ago - ended up taking off about 1/16" and it turned out a great blade.

Since it is a small blade, you probably wouldn't want to put a lot of money into it - and since it doesn't have sentimental value, you might want to clean it up yourself. If you want to get into shaving with it, I could sharpen it for you for the cost of postage - but you might not have as much left when you get it back.

Collector value is probably nil for the blade. The scales are worth more than the blade at this point.

Thanks for the offer Ladykate. As tempting as it sounds, I believe I will just clean it up nice and display it.
