What's new

Looking for info on this razor.Douglas"

Scored this interesting razor but I can not find any information on it
It has an aluminum handle and head, the cap is some other plated metal
Sort of Tech'ish in appearance
The only marking on it is DOUGLAS on the cap
I am curious as to when and where it was made and if its possible that it was made by (or for) the Douglas Aircraft Co.

The cap with DOUGLAS and a DC3

It also came with 2 Douglas blades, both have aircraft on them a DC3 and probably a DC4

No clue as to when or where they were made (not on the blades either)

Appreciate any info on this razor
Thanks

I'm thinking that the TopCap may be mis-matched to the base and handle. Not only are they of different materials, but the top appears to a different curve than the bottom. (A straight-on side view pic would clarify this.)

Nice looking razor. It looks very simalar to a Soluna from the 70's to me, but couldnt be with that Douglas motif.

My initial thought was that I wouldn't be surprised if it was made by somebody at Douglas. Surely people that are capable of making airplane parts are capable of making an aluminum handled razor as a side project. They would just need to get a top cap to throw on it.
But on second thought it seems as though the blades are packaged as production blades and that leads off in a completely different direction

It is a puzzle. It appears that the name Douglas is in quotes on the cap. The blades resemble early Gillette blades and even though the wording on their lables is in English the blade thickness is metric. There are two different planes depicted, a twin engine on the razor and the Super blade, and a four engine on the Record blade. In addition the Record blade is Finest Swedish Steel and the Super is First Class Chrome Steel. The name Douglas appears in three different fonts. You might get some clues by checking if any of the labeling matches logos used by Douglas Aircraft. Good luck. You certainly have an 'avis raris'.
