What's new

Look who's smiling now! Bread knife?

OK, I know, bread knifing isn't always considered as the right thing to do on smiling blades but I just landed these two and they certainly have a rather pronounced smile. They need a lot of work, one has a little ding near the toe but I'm sure they'll scrub up wonderfully given a little time. They'll be arriving in 2 weeks when my brother comes to visit me - unless they get confiscated in customs!
Once I've done them up I was planning on getting them a new set of clothes, possibly in horn but one thing at time.
Here are the latest adoptions into my still growing family - gonna need a RAD vasectomy soon! They're vintage Kikuboshi R.Saito. Don't know which model yet but I think it says W2 on one of them. Quite a bit of rust so they are a gamble but I hope to roll snake eyes with them!

I love saito razors.

Why breadknife?
Was a joke, guess my sense of humour isn't as good as I thought!
Never actually shaved with one, I almost had one at the beginning of last year - got it before getting into straights and sold it on the bay. I have regretted it ever since starting with SRs and when I saw these I knew I had to have them. Cost me about 80 bucks for the pair on the auctions in Japan so I hope the rust isn't too bad. Reckon I'll have fun honing out the ding though! Obviously the restore will be fully covered on the right section of the forum!

Better get to the local hardware store and get some sandpaper to get the beauty out again :D

Lovely razors :D

Well they've arrived with my bro so they'll be on the plane to the UK shortly, then a short trip across the channel to Belgium by train so a week today I'll have em. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with one if them, there's no longer a bevel, gonna have to try and reset the bevel completely. Was hopin to use a skinny coti but this had thrown a spanner in the works.
I'm thinking of rescaling in horn, one light and one dark. Sort of yin and yang smily razors.
