What's new

Look what my wife bought me at an estate sale

Coles New York travel slant razor

So, I know what I have. That's pretty easy. What I don't know is it's age. Can anyone help with this?

There is one spot where the plating came off.

My lighting is so off. Here's the top with Coles printed on top

And here is one of the blade. The other side is different, has numbers.

Excuse the double photos. dunno what happened.

Oh. I did shave with it and it was exceptionally smooth. Got a wonderfully, non irritating, BBS shave this morning with it.

Best part? My wife paid 8 dollars.

Whoa.... Send her back out man..... Who knows what she will come back with next time.... YOWSERS.......

50's or 60's is my guess.

Maybe older, probably not much newer though. Three piece slants are not that common, relatively speaking. The little ones like that in a metal case are the older versions.

Later ones come in a leather case with a zipper or snap.

Coles branded razors like the Merkur HD were made longer. I don't know when the last ones were made, but I'd guess the 80's.

I'm only making guesses based on the style of the cap and the fact that it's gold plated. I have seen them branded Hoffritz more often in that style in gold.

By best guess = 1960's.
