What's new

Look what I got!

Looks like it's been well cared for. I don't know how much those razors 'normally' go for, but that one is a beaut!

Looks very nice indeed.
It's only worth it if you decide that it is.
That is just how the collectible market works.

Its a good razor at a great price for that condition. Just take the same care with it that the last owner obviously did. Though thats redundant advice on a forum of this nature.

I thought it was not too bad of a price for a razor with the case and all. I really can't wait to get it so I can use it though. Everyone that comes over comments on my EJ89 that sits in the bathroom now, just wait till I have a sweet gold tech sitting there!:drool:

Edit: After doing a quick search it seems this is about the norm price for these razors. There's a few that are going for $60-$90+

I certainly don't want to be the downer here because these fat handle Tech's are good shavers so as far as price, you got a good one. But this seller has admitted to me that he buys them and has a local jeweler there in India replate them. I could tell from the pictures of some of his other razors, and this one. Nothing wrong with replating of course, but sellers should be up front about it. Pictures 3 and 9 on this particular razor really set off alarms for me which is what prompted me to ask the seller about this, because the replate is so poorly done, or looks that way in the pics anyway. The ripple and bubble effects really stand out in those 2 pictures. You obviously got a good price. You can't really find anyone to replate a razor in gold for $29.08. I just hope the replate is better than it looks in the pictures. Please do post back with pictures of your own and let us know. :001_smile

This seller has admitted to me that he buys them and has a local jeweler there in India replate them.

Or as he put it: "Securely nestled in its original case this Gold Tech has undergone a transformation for good..."

Is it better or worse that he kinda/sorta hinted at it?

I also was looking at the pictures a little closer this evening and noticed that it looked as though someone had hit it with a hammer or something on the underside. I e-mailed the seller and he told me that it was in fact re-plated but said nothing about the apparent wear, or poor re-plating.

I really wish it had said in the description that it was re-plated!

I will take pics when it arrives!
