Loofah Question

When showering, I always used to use a washcloth, but a few years ago, switched to using a loofah as an alternate to the washcloth that I used to use. But I never thought to stop and think whether a loofah is meant to serve as an actual replacement to a washcloth or if it's supposed to be just an extra step in the showering process. Can anyone tell me?

I think most people use loofas daily when showering. The only thing that sucks about loofas is that they're big traps for bacteria and mold, so you have to replace them at least every month

I''ll give it a go and try to help. A washcloth is adequate for removing surface dirt, but a luffah does that and more. Because of it's fibrous makeup and gentle abrasion, a luffah importantly removes not only dirt, but also dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and polished. Another benefit of luffahs is that they are natural sponges and will absorb soap more easily than a washcloth causing less waste.

The only other thing you want to be careful of is to rinse your luffah and let it dry thoroughly between uses to avoid bacteria which thrives in moist, warm bathroom environments.

Hope that helps.

A wash cloth will provide the same mild exfoliation on your body as a loofah (bath pouf, whatever you want to call it).

I'm not sure how to ask this, but how is one supposed to wash their nether regions with a loofah?

I used bleach to kill the mold. Anyway, long story short, I gave up after using one.

The scrunched up plastic netting ball things are more sanitary... whatever they're called... but not nearly so nice on your skin.

I think it has to be used as a replacement for a shower cloth. They both hold soap, scrub, and exfoliate, and you probably don't need two things that do that. Not that you couldn't switch off between them on different areas of your skin. I used to do that between a.... I forget what exactly... but I hated something on my face and think I just used a cloth on my face.

Look, comrades, why not have abrasiveness better than a loofa and a washrag at the same time?
